Abstract
This study focused on identifying the achievement indicators of both the Test of Aptitude and Learning (PAES, given its Spanish acronym), in force from 1997 to 2019, and the AVANZO test, which took place in 2020. The main purpose of the PAES test was to measure the academic performance of high school students in their senior year with the purpose of evaluating the educational system. AVANZO, on the other hand, aims to be a test for assessing knowledge based on the student’s experience. Both tests measure the four basic subjects, being PAES the one which evaluates more specifc types of competencies. However, the latter includes a socioemotional measurement, and a scale that allows a weighting that generates positive reinforcement in the participants. It will be necessary to have more public information accessible in relation to AVANZO in order to make more specifc comparisons.
