Abstract
This instrumental, transversal design study is aimed at analyzing whether the Athens Insomnia Scale has the adequate validity in its construct and criteria indexes, and to determine if it shows the adequate reliability coefficients.
The tested sample consisted of 419 Salvadorean adults, both male and female. The sampling was a non probabilistic snowball sampling. The median age was 29.04 years old, with a standard deviation of 8.10; in regards to gender, the median age for women was 28.48 years old, with a standard deviation of 8.05; for men, the median was 29.97, with a standard deviation of 9.12. The fndings show that the Athens Insomnia Scale does have an adequate construct validity, criteria validity and reliability to evaluate insomnia in Salvadorean adults.
