Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic generated important challenges for university education around the world by totally restricting face-to-face interaction to such an extent that the continuity of the teaching learning process at this level was only possible as long as the transition from the face-to-face study modality was oriented towards studying online. This process had to be carried out by both university professors and students without prior training in it. At least in El Salvador, the practice of blended education was the closest antecedent to the learning and evaluation process of students in an online modality. Under these new conditions, it became necessary to analyze--from the point of view of Salvadorean professors and students the most relevant experiences, opportunities and challenges in the evaluation of learning and how to address it in the online modality. during the 2020-2022 period for the development of this research, the mixed method was used, from which it was essential to administer student surveys and carry out interviews with a population of university professors comprising all of El Salvador’s higher education institutions.
