Definition of magazine
The specialized journal of Museology Kóot is an annual publication of the Directorate of Culture of the Technological University of El Salvador, which is designed with a multidisciplinary approach, which provides, from the perspective of social sciences, important aspects of culture, museology, anthropology, art, philosophy, among other topics, which are a product of the human being, his reality and his entorno.
History of the Magazine
Kóot Magazine began in 2010, based on the principle of offering free access to scientific research and the dissemination of history, art, museology, anthropology, archeology, among other disciplines, in order to establish a global exchange of knowledge.
Aim
Address topics related to archaeology, history and arts in general, in order to disseminate what Salvadorans do in each genre, in addition to promoting academic, scientific and cultural exchange with universities and related institutions.

The Museology journal Kóot, for its research policies, adopts the ethical code of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For this, The editorial management does the following:
Ethical-academic integrity: Kóot magazine is a publication of the Culture Directorate of the Technological University of El Salvador, based on the principle of offering free access to scientific research and the dissemination of history, art, museology, anthropology, archeology, among other disciplines, in order to establish a global exchange of knowledge. Therefore, the magazine is based on the following principles:
- Confidentiality: the editor and the entire editorial team have the obligation to maintain confidentiality about the texts received and their content until they have been accepted for publication. Only then can its title and authorship be disseminated.
- Impartiality: the Editorial Team must be impartial in the process of accepting articles, based on the authors' policies and guidelines. respecting the intellectual independence of the authors.
Originality and plagiarism: The editorial direction must ensure that the published articles have academic-scientific purposes, that they are original and unpublished, and any form of plagiarism is taken as a serious lack of ethics, for the sanctions and solutions of this type of bad practices the publisher will take as a basis the plagiarism policies that the magazine has.
Duties and responsibilities
Editor's Responsibility: the editor will be responsible for guaranteeing the quality of the material that is published in the magazine. Based on the editing policies, lines of research and guidelines for authors. The editor must also emphasize the privacy statement, evaluation processes and plagiarism policies that the journal has.
- Author's responsibility:All authors who send their works to the magazine must take into account the policies that the magazine has. Also, the author must accompany your work with a letter of commitment specifying that the works sent are unpublished originals and will not be presented to any other media before knowing the decision of the Editorial Committee.
- Responsibility of peer evaluators: Peer evaluators must take into account the arbitration system, research policies, lines of research, among others. In addition, the authors will be aware that their works will be subjected to evaluation. And measures will be taken to ensure and protect the privacy of the identities of the peer reviewers. Any decision made to accept or reject the article will be communicated through the editor.
Use of Licenses Creative Commons: Kóot magazine is registered under the creative commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA). Therefore, Kóot magazine articles can be reproduced, distributed and publicly communicated in digital format, provided that the name of the authors and the Technological University of El Salvador are recognized.
Plagiarism detection
Kóot magazine, through its Editorial Board, maintains a serious policy related to plagiarism. We faithfully believe that the use of works and ideas without providing due recognition or credit is a dishonest practice. Paraphrasing or copying the ideas of others or even your own, which have been made known through from other publications is considered plagiarism. Therefore, we reserve the complete freedom to reject the review process of a submitted manuscript, if it is subject to plagiarism, which will be reviewed through technological tools, acting as the first of the manuscript review stages; and if confirmed, the following actions will be taken:
- The plagiarism check will be carried out in the first phase of manuscript review.
- When a situation of irregularity or suspicion of plagiarism is detected, the authors involved will be immediately informed of the process to follow.
- The articles will be compared to check the degree of plagiarism..
- All members of the Editorial Board will be informed and asked for their comments.
- Documentary evidence will be sent to the authors of the article and a response will be requested.
- If the authors are found guilty of plagiarism: A record of the official retraction of the work will be made. The online version of the article will be removed.
Kóot magazine will not publish any other articles by the authors involved in the plagiarism for the period considered by the Editorial Board.
