Abstract

In Costa Rica, John Lennon’s 1966 statements on Christianity gave rise to the organization of a conservative movement whose convocation revolved around the defense of religion. Although this movement was called upon by several youth, student, and religious groups, it lacked a clear leadership and controls to prevent the infiltration of vandalism elements that would distort it. It was also undermined for the purpose of vandalism; which les the State Security Forces to react with repression and abuses against those journalists who reported on the events.
